A Boy and His Garden

Gardening has been a highlight of James' summer.  He literally has been watching his corn grow each day, checking for tassels, ears, and silk.  He's had the joy of watching his seeds sprout this spring and he has sadly lamented the loss of an ear of corn likely stolen from the garden by the muskrat living in the pond near by.  This little boy is passionate about the garden this year and if I need anything harvested for dinner, tomatoes, lettuce, dill, onions, peppers, he will gladly go pick it and deliver it to me.  (To note:  he loves growing and picking the produce, but he still isn't inclined to eat it!)

About a week ago James asked if he could take the camera out so he could photograph his garden.  I am just now getting around to download his pictures and in the process, this gem of a video was discovered.  Turn up your sound as you get an entire garden tour complete with hummed intro music, descriptions of tasseling and close-ups of prized veggies all narrated by James.  This video is summer for James in the backyard and I think it is a keeper!

Fourteen!

Happy Anniversary to us!  Fourteen years ago today we began our life together as husband and wife and it has been an amazing journey.  I've so proud of the life we've made and the family we're growing!  We celebrated with a trip to Red Wing this weekend and end up a lovely little place  in Wisconsin called Vino in the Valley for our anniversary dinner.  (Thanks Hal and Sharleen for the great suggestion).  While we were waiting for our turn at dinner, we took a stroll and snapped this photo.  Tonight we celebrated in part by watching our wedding video with the kids.  We were so blessed that day to be surrounded by so many loving family members and friends.  It was pretty cool to watch our kids recognize and call out many of those special people by name tonight--just a vivid sign that we have some amazing family and friends who continue to support us on our marriage journey. BLESSED!
