Wedding Bells!

We all attended the wedding of some family friends this weekend. Ella was enthralled with the glimmer and glamour of the fancy dresses. James was a fan of the sparkling lights and chocolates at the reception. Both kids were thrilled once the dance started. Ella showed off her dancing skills...those dance lessons are paying off! James was a wild one on the dance floor. He invented some new moves, including spinning and scooting around on the dance floor. James found many fans of his dancing near the edge of the dance floor and went running from one person to the next. He made many new friends and by the end of our early evening he had many goodbyes to say. Enjoy the pics and video and Congrats to Sara & Scott!!! Ella & Sara after comparing dresses.

Waiting patiently with other girls for the dance to begin.

Getting the dance started!

James moved around so fast that I never got a picture of his face at the dance. I can assure you there was a smile on it...at least until he got knocked down by another dancer!

Snow Day....Again!

I am quite excited to announce that I again get to have a "snow day"! It is rare that there are snow days two days in a row. Technically, yesterday wasn't a "snow day", but an "early release day" which meant no teaching in the PM for me. Today was first listed as a late start, but by 8:30 it was announced that our school district was closed for the day. Ella was not too thrilled that her preschool was cancelled this morning. However, she has since caught my excitement for a snow day. We plan on relaxing and hanging out at home again today. Sadly, there will be no playing in the snow as the windchill is a chilly 31 degrees below zero and the actual temp is -10 degrees!

The Great Blizzard of 2008

I had my first snow day of the school year today! I love snow days...as long as I don't have to go anywhere. And lucky for me, today I didn't need to be anyplace except school later today. Once I heard school was being let out early, I was more than happy to stay home with the kids and watch the wind blow the snow around. By mid afternoon, our weather turned from a Winter Storm Warning to a Blizzard Warning and I was even happier to be stuck at home. I am hoping that all my family and friends made it home safely tonight. One of my brothers has the privilege of driving a snow plow on our county roads during the winter season. I could never ever do his job and on days like today, I worry about him.

What to do with the kids when stuck inside on a snowy, freezing Minnesota winter day? We turn our living room into a playground. Did you know that couch cushions make a great fort?

Sledding Video

I thought I would try to upload a video through blogger. It isn't a stellar video...just some sledding fun from Christmas Day.

Sledding on Christmas Day

As far back as I my early memories go, I can recall getting all bundled up for sledding on many winter holiday afternoons. My brothers, cousins and I would sled for hours on the hill by Grandma's house on our farm and try to avoid going to0 far and ending up in the creak. I am happy to say, that tradition continues! While some of us have grown quite a bit, we still enjoyed sledding on Christmas afternoon. All the little cousins were outside having fun and the big "kids" were sledding too! There were some comments that the hill doesn't seem to be as big as it once was... Enjoy the pics!
