Sledding on Christmas Day--A Holiday Tradition!

This hill has been a source of laughter, joy, triumph, excitement and its fair share of tears as it has trained generations of sledders.  It has almost always (unless we've been snowless) been the source of Christmas Day entertainment for the kids of each era.  He are a just a few images of kids, young and old, experiencing the joys of sledding on Christmas Day 2013!

Uncle Greg Goes Sledding---A Christmas Photo Story

If you are forty years old and still sledding on the same hill just as you did as a kid, you realize that getting up isn't quite as easy as you remember...

Happy Birthday, James!!

My Sweet Baby James is EIGHT today!!  He is such a sweet boy and continues to amaze us with his thoughtful questions and natural wonder for how things work or grow.  We definitely get a fresh view of the world through his bright blue eyes and we are blessed to have him in our family.  We are also thankful that God gave us at least one child who falls blissfully asleep within minutes of his head hitting the pillow--quite different from his sisters!  We offered to take James out for a nice birthday dinner tonight, but he really just wanted to stay home and eat Mac & Cheese and that is what we did!

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the 40 Year Old Twins

It was supposed to be a quiet evening for The Gang.  They were just hanging around home.  Shaggy was preparing a snack of fifty hamburgers, Scooby-Doo was watching and waiting for a treat, Velma was reading, Daphne was touching up her make-up and Fred was straightening his ascot.  Then they got a frantic call about a mysterious and loud gathering out in the boondocks and they decided they should go to investigate.

Scooby-Doo and the Gang hopped in their mini-van Mystery Machine and sped out on their mission.  It was dark and gloomy and the roads were full of shadows, but The Gang was soon pulling into the driveway of what was usually a quiet country home.   Velma wondered aloud, "Jinkies! I wonder why all these cars are here?"  Fearing the worst, they slowly opened the van door to explore.  Daphne exclaimed, "Look! There are strange, bright lights glowing through a door in that dusty shed!  Normally it looks abandoned!"   Fred said they better check it out.  Upon hearing Fred's suggestion, Scooby said, "Ruh Roh...!!!!"  And, Shaggy muttered, "Here we goooo again..."

The Gang crept to the door.  Shaggy thought he smelled food.  They threw open the door and were shocked to find the space completely transformed, the walls gleaming white and the place packed with people.    Velma saw two strangely similar looking guys in disguise...or were they?  Zoinks!!  Fred quickly unmasked them and revealed that it was just Chuck and Greg trying to hide their age!   Chuck muttered,"Yes, you caught us. We are forty this year."  Greg mumbled, " And we would have gotten away with it if it weren't for these meddling kids..."  With that Shaggy said, "Hey Scoob let's hit the snack table and eat some cake to celebrate!"

But a mystery remains... How did those little boys grow to be so tall?  Fred exclaimed, "Let's split up and search for clues."    TO BE CONTINUED...

Fall on the Farm

Curious Cows
I had fun capturing a few moments on the farm today.  It was a gorgeous fall afternoon and the light was very pretty.  The kids love running and exploring and getting dirty at the farm while daddy digs in the garden.
