How We Scared the Tooth Fairy Away

After last night, we probably won't be winning any "Parent of the Year" awards at our house... Ella pulled out her second front tooth yesterday afternoon and she was so excited. One of her friends told her that the Tooth Fairy leaves double if you lose a tooth on Sunday. This would be the same friend who got $20 when she lost her first tooth... We've since explained to Ella that there are different zones for Tooth Fairies and we clearly don't live in the same zone as her friend. Ella has always been thrilled with whatever the Tooth Fairy has brought her...when the Tooth Fairy remembers to come. Are you beginning to see where the "Parent of the Year" awards are going to come into play?

Last week when Ella lost her first front tooth, she didn't put it under her pillow right away. Instead, she wanted to keep it a few days and she didn't let us know that she decided to put it under her pillow one night. She was pretty disappointed when she woke up and the fairy had not visited. This also happened to be the unfortunate night that Ella was very sick with the flu, so we were able to console her by convincing her that the Tooth Fairy knew she was sick and didn't want to catch her germs. Simple and reasonable! The Tooth Fairy came with a very good gift of a silver dollar and a fifty cent piece once she was feeling better. All was well...until last night.

At bedtime, Ella excitedly put her second top front tooth under her pillow and her very tired mommy knew this, but... All was quiet at our house for a little while. Then, Claranna had a rough night and Mark and I were both up with her countless times. This morning we knew Ella was awake when we heard her exclaim in a rather disappointed voice that the Tooth Fairy didn't come. Uh Oh!!! Being the stellar parents that we are, we took full responsibility and blamed the baby. You see, we carefully explained that Mommy and Daddy must have scared the Tooth Fairy away when we were up with Claranna. Fortunately, Ella seemed to understand. After all, everyone knows the Tooth Fairy can only come when everyone is fast asleep. Here's hoping the Tooth Fairy and the Sleep Fairy make a much needed stop at our house tonight!!

Well played! We've scared the tooth fairy away more times then we care to admit too. Oops.

Sometimes our tooth fairy puts the moolah in odd places....we aren't alway sure we get the real tooth fairy or a substitute.

Timely story. . .I am trying to get ideas so that I can think on my feet as apparently the tooth fairies will be visiting our house soon.
